paper romance

this is a bit nerdy but they use public IP ranges internally on the LAN for all devices. why?!!!. it means that we have a limited number of subnets with limited capacity and i have 8 new servers to build and it looks like i will be struggling to find free IPs in the 2 subnets for servers that we have. why not use 172.16, or 192.168 or 10.0 ranges and subnet them up to give yourself abundant ip addresses in different subnets?.

why does my pc on my desk have an IP for a public range but is never going to be needed to be accessed from outside. maybe i am the idiot and don't know what i am on about. there are people here that are infinitely cleverer than me, have miles more knowledge and ability and skill, but the whole IP thing is just silly and makes no sense.

anyways, thats just me whining because i am tired and i have a big pile of boxes to unpack of new servers and will be spending the next couple of days installing them. boring!!!. am supposed to be building a database cluster but they haven't come in yet, which was what i was looking forward to doing, because i haven't done one before, but thats been delayed. urghh!!!.

its rained all week and the forecast is for rain for the next few days. its supposed to be sunny on saturday but who knows, it could rain then as well. when i say its rained, i mean its raining in the morning when i wake up, its raining at lunchtime when i go out and its raining on my way home and raining till i go to bed. oh, and one last detail, i can't stand the rain.

still no word about that other job. let me guess, they didn't like the fact i can't start tomorrow and so will end up repeating their mistake of 2 months ago and hire someone who can, and let that form their decision to employ them, as opposed to their ability, and then it will be a lottery as to whether they can actually do the job they were hired for. urghh!!!.

have slowly started studying for an exam but its very early days yet and its like walking through knee high mud....blinfolded.....with a heavy backpack on......and its snowing. basically its a bit tough going at the moment. still, no bother, i will just have to get it done because it needs to be done and if it hastens my departure then thats something worth doing.

today i have mostly been listening to groove armada - paper romance. this is not the type of thing i usually post, but its actually a very good tune and i like the vocal. video is a bit odd. some girl looking a bit wasted just roaming around. whatever.

have a good week. its tough going but we will get through.
