this week is flying by quick. calls to estate agents and with solicitors as they try and get the mortgage and legal documents sorted out. i reckon it will be mid january by the time i get any keys and i might post some pics of the new place then, if its all gone through and the deal has not been scuppered. hopefully it all comes through ok. its a good thing i am not at work full time as i really wouldn't like the hassle of doing all this and working at the same time. its been good timing.
buying a place is the biggest purchase anyone makes in their life. it got me thinking about a couple of things. first was that some of my savings were from when i was working at a supermarket while i was still at school. forget about contracts in investment banks, some of the money was from stacking toilet roll and bottled water in a supermarket on my saturdays.
it also made me realise how expensive it is and how on earth people with normal jobs working in shops or offices or teachers or nurses are supposed to afford to buy places like mine. its nice but its not a palace. the last 6 months i spent working in a bank were the most lucrative i have ever had, and had it not been for that i am not sure i would be able to buy this place. it all does seem unfair and you do wonder about the implications for society and urbanisation of populations.
anyways, the week is going by quick. have been going to the gym regularly and i am feeling the difference. am lifting more and am stronger than i have been over the last few months. have been cycling most of the time though i dont like the type of traffic that you get on a weekday in london. everyone is really aggressive compared to weekends and people just seem to turn into cunts.
am out tomorrow night in shoreditch with a few friends. i also downloaded a few films and i watched one of them last night. the town, with ben affleck. to be honest i am not a fan of his and haven't watched many of his films but it was very very good indeed. if you have the means, money or an internet connection, i recommend it.
